SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS CAUSE TROUBLES

All national dailies give prominence to the serious situation in Souther Bulgaria. The Ivanovo Dam overflew causing the death of nine people. Whole villages in Haskovo Area were flooded jeopardizing the life of hundreds of people. The disaster reoccurs every year. However, nooone assumed responsibility either for the specific case or for the problems having accumulated for years. National mourning will be declared after setting the exact number of victims.

"Troud" and "24 Chassa" report a death toll of 11. Gen. Zlatko Zlatev, Commander of the Kroumovo Aviation Base, describes the rescue operation before "24 Chassa". Six of the country's biggest dams overflew or have begun to overflow on Monday, "Troud" writes. The Foreign Ministry has notified the competent Greek and Turkish authorities about the overflow of the Ivailovgrad Dam. Ivailovgrad Dam, Stouden Kladents Dam and Kurdjali Dam are a part of the Arda Cascade, which is in a critical condition. According to "24 Chassa", 1,416,440 Bulgarians have been living in risk areas.
